My Transcriber is made by Augmented Mind AB (PB 13, 00561 Helsinki, Finland). These terms cover this website (https://mytranscriber.app), the My Transcriber app for Mac, any other My Transcriber app we publish, and any account you make with us. We call all of that "the Service".
By using the app or creating an account on this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
My Transcriber turns speech into text on your own computer. It transcribes what you record in the app, the audio and video files you give it, and, if you allow it, your Apple Voice Memos, and writes each transcript as a plain markdown file in a My Transcriber folder on your computer.
Transcription happens on your computer. The app downloads its speech model the first time it needs it, and your recordings are not sent anywhere to be transcribed. You need no account, no API key and no subscription to any AI service. It needs a Mac running macOS 14 or later.
If you put the My Transcriber folder in a synced or shared folder, such as Dropbox, that service and the people you share it with get your transcripts, under your arrangement with them.
If you connect an AI assistant to your transcripts, for example Claude Code through the app's MCP server, that assistant reads what you let it read, and its provider handles it under your agreement with them, not ours.
Transcripts are made by speech-recognition AI, and AI can make mistakes. It can mishear words, names and numbers, pick the wrong language, or write text that nobody said. Check a transcript before you rely on it, and do not use one as the only record of something that matters.
Deleting audio cannot be undone. If you accept a transcript, choose to delete its source audio, or turn on deleting the recording after transcription, the app deletes the original recording, and for a voice memo that is the recording in Apple Voice Memos itself. Only the transcript remains. Keep the audio of anything where the exact words matter.
The app is free. You do not need to pay us anything to download it or to use it, and the features it has today will stay free.
Use the Service lawfully. In particular, record and transcribe other people only where you are allowed to: in many places that needs their consent. Do not try to break into our systems, disrupt them, or resell access to the Service.
If you do, we may suspend or close your account. If we do, we will tell you why, unless the law stops us, and refund any part of a purchase you have not had.
The Service is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will run without interruption or error, that it will transcribe every recording, or that a transcript will be accurate, and we may change or withdraw features.
So far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, for a transcript that turns out to be wrong or incomplete, for a decision you take on the strength of one, or for a recording you chose to delete.
Nothing here removes liability that cannot be removed by law, and nothing here limits your rights as a consumer.
Your recordings and transcripts stay on your own computer. Augmented Mind AB does not run a server that stores them and keeps no copy. What we do handle, such as your account if you make one, what you send us and what the app sends when it checks for updates, is set out in our privacy policy.
The software, and the My Transcriber name and logo as we use them, are ours, apart from the open-source parts it includes, which come under their own licences. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service. Your recordings and everything the app writes from them stay yours.
We may change these terms, for instance when the product changes or the law does. The date at the top of this page always shows when they last changed.
If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you before it takes effect. If you do not want to accept it, you can stop using the Service, and we will refund any part of a purchase you have not had. We will not treat carrying on using the Service as your agreement to a material change.
These terms are governed by Finnish law. That does not take away the protection of the law where you live, and you can bring a claim in your own country's courts.
