If you're on an older Mac with an Intel processor, you can now use My Transcriber. Download the Intel build from the link below — setup is identical to Apple Silicon.
Intel users have been left behind
Apple Intelligence brought voice memo transcription to Mac — but only on Apple Silicon. If you're on an Intel Mac, there's no built-in option. Apple's transcription simply doesn't run on your machine.
My Transcriber uses Whisper AI, which runs on Intel just as well as Apple Silicon. You get the same transcription quality, the same 99+ languages, and the same automatic catch-up on any memos recorded while the app was closed.
Same app, same setup
Download the Intel build, open the DMG, drag to Applications. Grant Full Disk Access when prompted. Pick your output folder. Record a voice memo on your iPhone or Apple Watch — it syncs to your Mac and My Transcriber transcribes it automatically.
The Whisper model downloads on first launch (about 1.5 GB for the default large-v3-turbo). After that, everything runs offline. No cloud service, no account, no subscription.
Not sure whether you have Apple Silicon or Intel? Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says "Chip: Apple M..." you have Apple Silicon. If it says "Processor: Intel..." you have Intel.
